Ensemble Contemporary α Call for Compositions 2026

ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE RESULT

​

We had a total of 38 entries (14 from the USA, 7 from Japan, 5 from China, 

4 from South Korea, 2 from Italy, 1 from Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Israel, 

Norway, and the UK). Thank you to all who participated.

 

As a result of a rigorous review by five composers of the Ensemble Contemporary α, 

the following work was selected:

 

Riki Kubo

Cyber Hototogisu

for violoncello and ensemble

 

This work will be premiered by the Ensemble Contemporary α on Monday, 

March 23, 2026, at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Small Hall. 

 

Regarding the jury's comments, we will make sure to send the comments to 

those who requested them by January 10, 2026.
